Keeping Bhutanese Archery Alive, Together.

Aim Higher. Shoot with Precision. Belong to a Community.

Druk Melbourne Archery Club was founded by members of the Bhutanese community in Melbourne who share a passion for Bhutanese traditional archery. Our members began playing together around 2018 and have competed regularly ever since.

For us, the club is much more than a sporting group. It is a place where Bhutanese people living in Australia stay connected to their homeland, their culture and one another.

More Than a Sport. A Connection to Home.

For us, the club is much more than a sporting group. It is a place where Bhutanese people living in Australia stay connected to their homeland, their culture and one another. A match day brings friends and families together, and it is often where newcomers to Melbourne first find a sense of belonging.

Archery is deeply woven into the history and culture of Bhutan and is the country's national sport. For centuries it has been played in villages, towns and national tournaments, and it is a highlight of festivals, celebrations and community gatherings.

Families, friends and newcomers

A match day brings friends and families together, and it is often where newcomers to Melbourne first find a sense of belonging. Alongside the shooting there are songs, friendly banter between teams, celebration of good shots and shared meals.

We founded the club to keep that connection alive. It brings the Bhutanese community together, keeps our culture and traditions strong, and keeps Bhutan's national sport thriving outside Bhutan, all in an atmosphere of friendship, respect and discipline.

Our vision for the future

A permanent, well-built range would allow us to continue this tradition properly here in Australia.

As the club grows, we hope to strengthen this tradition and work towards a permanent, purpose-built range that can serve the community for generations to come.

A permanent range is an aspiration the club is working towards; it does not exist yet.
